WhatsApp link generator for Singapore businesses: wa.me link and QR code
Type your number and an optional message to get a wa.me click-to-chat link, a QR code to download or print, and a website button. It checks Singapore (+65) numbers against IMDA's numbering plan and works for other countries too. Free, no sign-up, and nothing you type leaves your browser.
Type it any way: 8905 1632, +65 8905 1632 or 0065 8905 1632. The example is our own number, answered by our live AI agent, so Test link works. Replace it with yours.

QR code
Loading the QR encoder…
M suits most uses. Choose Q or H for codes that may get scratched or wet; the pattern gets denser.
Website button
A plain link that opens in a new tab: no script, no tracking.
Counter card or table tent
The card prints the code 8 cm wide. The tent prints two copies on one A4 or Letter sheet: fold along the dashed line.
Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Olano or anyone else, and nothing is saved.
How do I create a WhatsApp link?
A WhatsApp link is https://wa.me/ followed by your full phone number in international format, digits only: the country code, then the number, with no plus sign, spaces, brackets, dashes or leading zero. To pre-fill the chat, add ?text= and the message, URL-encoded. That is WhatsApp's own format, from its Help Center article How to use click to chat (checked 17 October 2026).
- Pick the country (Singapore is preset) and type the number as you normally write it.
- Write the message customers will find in their text box, or start from a template.
- Copy the link, test it on a phone with WhatsApp, then use it in your Instagram bio, Google Business Profile, email signature or website.
Worked example: our own number, +65 8905 1632, becomes 6589051632 however you type it.
| You type | What the generator does | In the link |
|---|---|---|
| 8905 1632 | Adds 65, Singapore's country code | 6589051632 |
| +65 8905 1632 or 0065 8905 1632 | Drops the + or 00 and the spaces | 6589051632 |
| 08905 1632 | Drops the 0, since Singapore numbers have none | 6589051632 |
| prices & availability | Encodes spaces and the & | prices%20%26%20availability |
| A line break | Encodes it | %0A |
With the Enquiry template the full link is https://wa.me/6589051632?text=Hi%2C%20I'd%20like%20to%20ask%20about%20your%20prices%20%26%20availability. An unencoded & would start a new parameter and an unencoded # a fragment, cutting the message short. Emoji and scripts such as Chinese or Tamil are encoded as UTF-8 and appear as written.
Which Singapore numbers work?
Every Singapore number has eight digits, and the first says what kind it is under IMDA's National Numbering Plan (Issue 2, February 2026). WhatsApp's registration rules decide which can have an account.
| Starts with | What IMDA uses it for | On WhatsApp? |
|---|---|---|
| 8 or 9 | Mobile numbers (99 is kept for emergency codes) | Yes, on WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business |
| 6 | Fixed lines | Only on the WhatsApp Business app, verified by phone call |
| 3 | IP telephony and data-only services | Unlikely: WhatsApp doesn't support VoIP numbers |
| 1800, 1900, 800 | Toll-free, premium-rate and international toll-free | No |
| 7 | SMS short codes | No |
| 2, 4, 5 | Reserved for future use | No |
How do I make a WhatsApp QR code, and where should I put it?
The QR code above holds your wa.me link, so scanning it with a phone camera opens the same chat. Download a PNG for documents and social posts, an SVG for print (it scales without blurring), or print the card.
- Counter or till: a table tent beside the payment terminal, for questions after the sale.
- Receipts and invoices: the SVG in your template, with the order message.
- Packaging and delivery slips: "Questions about your order?" above the code.
- Website and email: use the link or button, since nobody can scan a code on their own screen.
Keep the white border: a QR code needs a quiet zone four modules wide on every side, says DENSO WAVE, which invented the format. Error correction M restores about 15% of a damaged code and is the level most often chosen. WhatsApp's printable sticker template sizes the code at 8 cm, as our card does. A shorter message makes a simpler code that scans from further away.
Does the WhatsApp Business app have its own link and QR code?
Yes. The WhatsApp Business app makes a short link and a QR code for your account automatically, under Tools, then Short link, with one default message you can edit at any time. The Business Platform, the API, can create up to 2,000 codes per number (Meta, updated 21 May 2026).
| This generator (wa.me) | WhatsApp Business app | Business Platform (API) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What you need | Any number on WhatsApp | The Business app | A Platform account and a developer or provider |
| Link | wa.me/ plus your number | A short link the app makes | wa.me/message/ plus a code |
| Pre-filled message | Any text, one per link | One default message | Up to 140 characters per code |
| How many | As many as you like | One | Up to 2,000 per number |
| Edit after printing | No, make a new code | Yes | Yes |
| Expires | Never | Only if you reset it or delete the account | Only if you delete it |
| Files | PNG, SVG, print card | Screenshot or share | PNG or SVG |
Use the app's code for one code you can change without reprinting; use wa.me links for several, such as one for orders and one for bookings.
Does a wa.me link work with WhatsApp Business?
Yes. Click to chat opens a chat with any number that has an active WhatsApp account, Business accounts included; WhatsApp's short-link help for the Business app points to the same article. A 6xxx xxxx landline can only be on the Business app, and VoIP, toll-free and premium-rate numbers can't be registered.
What happens after someone taps the link?
WhatsApp opens a chat with your number and puts your message in the text box. Nothing is sent until the customer presses send, and they can edit or delete the text first. WhatsApp says click to chat works on phones and on WhatsApp Web. Someone without WhatsApp can't start the chat, so keep another way to reach you beside the code.
Is my number private in a WhatsApp link?
No. A wa.me link contains your number, so anyone who sees the link or scans the code can read it, including software that reads public web pages. The Business app's short link and the Platform's codes carry a code instead.
Do the 24-hour window and message templates apply to click-to-chat links?
No. The 24-hour customer service window and message templates are rules of the WhatsApp Business Platform, the API used by software and AI agents; a wa.me link only opens a chat. If your number runs on the Platform, the customer's message opens a 24-hour reply window, after which only approved templates are delivered (Meta), and Meta charges per message: see our WhatsApp Business API pricing guide for Singapore.
Common mistakes
- A plus sign or leading zero in the number.
wa.me/+6589051632andwa.me/089051632break WhatsApp's format. Digits only, country code first. - Unencoded text. A raw &, # or line break cuts the message short. WhatsApp's own example writes spaces as
%20. - Testing on the wrong device. A computer without WhatsApp can't open the chat, and the business phone opens a chat with itself. Test on a second phone.
- Recolouring the code or cropping its border. Meta advises against changing a code's colour or look, to keep it readable.
How Olano helps
A link or QR code starts the chat; someone still has to answer it. Olano Studio builds WhatsApp AI agents for Singapore businesses that answer those chats from your price lists, policies and live systems, and hand refunds, complaints and anything outside the approved scope to your staff. Anything outbound waits for approval by default, and every reply and approval is on an audit trail. Meta's rates and rules still apply, and AI usage is a separate cost from WhatsApp.

FAQ
How do I create a WhatsApp link for my number?
Write https://wa.me/ followed by your full number in international format, digits only: for the Singapore number 8905 1632, https://wa.me/6589051632. Add ?text= and a URL-encoded message to pre-fill the chat.
Do I need to include +65 in a WhatsApp link?
Include 65 but not the plus sign. WhatsApp's format is the full international number with no +, 00, leading zero, spaces or dashes.
Can I change the message on a printed WhatsApp QR code?
Not with a wa.me code: the message is part of the link inside it, so a new message needs a new code. The Business app's own code and the Business Platform's codes can be edited without reprinting.
Can I make a WhatsApp link without a phone number?
Yes. WhatsApp documents https://wa.me/?text= followed by a message, which lets the person choose who to send it to. The generator shows this link whenever you type a message.
Is this WhatsApp link generator free?
Yes, with no sign-up and no limit. The links are standard wa.me links that never expire and don't depend on Olano.
